New guidelines on class, work suspension not yet in effect — DepEd

The Department of Education (DepEd) said that the closure of a Salugpungan learning center in Davao del Norte was a community decision.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, Sept. 2) — The updated guidelines on the suspension of classes and work in schools are not yet in effect, the Department of Education (DepEd) clarified on Friday about its order.

The agency said a copy of the department order (DO) — which was posted on its website on Thursday — still needs to be filed with the Office of the National Administrative Register (ONAR) of the University of the Philippines Law Center.

The advance copy was posted on the website, it added.

“To avoid confusion in our field operations, we will take down the DO from our DepEd website and publish it again once the filing requirement in the ONAR can be fulfilled simultaneously with the website posting,” the DepEd advisory read.

The guidelines stated that classes in all levels are automatically canceled in areas where a tropical cyclone wind signal has been raised in a typhoon.

The document also provides that schools may not be used as quarantine, isolation, or vaccination sites.
