All the K-pop acts that brought home awards at 2022 MTV VMAs

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 29) — World-class K-pop acts once again cemented their impact in the international stage.

Korean artists BTS, BLACKPINK, and SEVENTEEN bagged several awards in the MTV Video Music Awards, presented on Monday in New Jersey, USA, including the coveted Group of the Year award.

Global superstars BTS snagged the Group of the Year title, besting fellow third gen group BLACKPINK and international bands Silk Sonic, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, City Girls, and Måneskin.

BLACKPINK won the award for Best Metaverse Performance for their PUBG collaboration “Ready For Love.”

For the first time since the Best K-pop category was introduced in 2019, BTS did not bring home the award.

Instead, it was won by BLACKPINK’s Lisa for her lead single “Lalisa” from her debut album of the same name. Her bandmates Jennie, Rosé, and Jisoo cheered her on as she accepted the Moon Person.

BLACKPINK debuted on the VMA stage with a sultry performance of their pre-release single “Pink Venom,” which marks the start of their comeback.

Thirteen-member group SEVENTEEN won “PUSH Performance Of The Year” for their song “Rock With You” — the title track of their ninth mini album “Attaca.”

The group was unable to attend the ceremony since the event coincided with their concert in Washington DC.

The group was also nominated for Best K-pop and Best New Artist categories.
