PNP vows to expedite probe on abduction cases in Batangas

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 27) — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has committed to fast-track its investigation into the recent cases of abduction in Batangas involving two male victims.

PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. on Saturday said they have formed special investigation task groups to look into both cases, one of which is the kidnapping of a 25-year-old man in Taal over a week ago that led to his death.

“We are now tracing the CCTV footage to link the events especially during the time when the victim was kidnapped,” Azurin said.

CCTV footage showed several unidentified men dragging the victim into a vehicle in front of a gas station in Taal on the night of Aug. 16.

Local police said his body was found the next day in Sariaya, Quezon. He reportedly suffered from multiple gunshot and stab wounds.

Meanwhile, the other case involves the abduction of a 34-year-old man in Lian, Batangas more than two weeks ago.

The PNP said the search for the victim continues.

He was reportedly on board a motorcycle with his girlfriend when a group of unidentified armed men blocked their way and forcibly took him.

“We are assuring the family that we are doing our best to get additional information about the case,” Azurin said.
