Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 17)— Senator Grace Poe has tested positive for COVID-19, Senate President Migz Zubiri disclosed on Wednesday.
Zubiri shared the news during the Senate’s plenary session, as he wished his colleague a speedy recovery.
“We pray in the Senate that you stay safe and that you can hurdle COVID-19,” Zubiri said.
Poe is the fourth senator to catch the virus this month. Senator Alan Peter Cayetano has already recovered, while Senators Imee Marcos and Cynthia Villar have been attending sessions virtually.
The Senate earlier announced stricter health protocols, including a “lockdown for guests” amid the rise in coronavirus infections.
