Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 12) — Filipino actress Liza Soberano will make her Hollywood feature film debut via the horror-comedy flick “Lisa Frankenstein” starring Cole Sprouse and Kathryn Newton.
The 24-year-old California-born actress shared the good news in an article that appeared Friday on leading entertainment news website Deadline.
Newton and Sprouse are the leads of the movie set in 1989 that puts a fresh spin on the 1821 novel “Frankenstein.” Details on Soberano’s role have yet to be disclosed.
Actor-filmmaker Zelda Williams, the daughter of late actor Robin Williams, is directing the film for Focus Features.
Soberano shared how thrilled she is for her new job.
“Ecstatic to be part of this film 🧟♀️” she said in an Instagram post.
She also received a warm welcome from her co-star Newton, who starred in “Big Little Lies” and Netflix’s “The Society.”
“I’m ecstatic (you’re) a part of this film!!!!” Newton said in a comment.
Newton and “Riverdale” actor Cole Sprouse are among the high-profile Hollywood actors following the Filipino actress on Instagram.
“Soberano is a Filipino-American actress, model and singer who with Lisa Frankenstein will make her Hollywood feature film debut,” wrote Deadline. “The multi-hyphenate boasts a large following in the Philippines, where she’s known for roles in films like My Ex and Whys (2017) and Alone/Together (2019), as well as the more recent Netflix animated feature Trese, which had her voicing the titular character.”
She is represented by Careless and Transparent Arts as well as Authentic Talent and Literary Management in the U.S., it also said.
