Phivolcs: Over 2,300 aftershocks recorded so far after Abra quake

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 2) – More than 2,300 aftershocks were recorded after the major earthquake that struck Abra last week, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

In its 10 p.m. report, Phivolcs said there have been a total of 2,330 aftershocks, 777 of which are plotted earthquakes, while 58 were felt.

The magnitude of the aftershocks ranged from 1.4 to 5.1, the agency added.

A magnitude 7 earthquake hit Abra last July 27, leaving a trail of destruction and at least 10 people dead.

Based on the update of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council issued last Sunday, 314,161 people or 82,336 families in three regions were affected by the tremor, while 34,291 persons were displaced.
