Nearly 300 deported OFWs from Kuwait back home

The Department of Foreign Affairs said acting Undersecretary Eduardo José de Vega led the repatriation – the eighth flight it chartered this year for overseas Filipinos. The plane carrying the OFWs reportedly arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at around 7 p.m.

These OFWs – mostly “longtime runaway workers” – were apprehended by Kuwaiti authorities over the past month, according to the DMW.

Of these individuals, 245 came from the Kuwaiti Deportation Center.

“Among the other repatriates are pregnant women (3), medical cases (3), mother and child (5), and [those who came from] other wards (33),” the DMW added in a statement.

“The National Reintegration Center for OFWs, meanwhile, will also assist the repatriated OFWs for their reintegration needs,” it added.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 2) – The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said 289 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returned to the Philippines on Tuesday after being deported from Kuwait for residency violations and absconding cases.

Meanwhile, the DMW said the deportees will be accorded psycho-social counseling, stress debriefing, and medical referrals by its attached agency Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

The DMW also said accommodations will be provided to them while transportation to their respective provinces will be arranged.
