Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 27) — The Office of the Vice President (OVP) said it will be launching a livelihood program aimed at helping women and LGBTQ members start a business.
Dubbed as “Magnegosyo Ta Day,” OVP spokesperson Reynold Munsayac said the program intends “to provide inclusive financial empowerment to women and members of the LGBTQ sectors.”
“This program will definitely stimulate economic activity, generate employment, and spur economic growth,” he added.
Under the program, qualified beneficiaries will be entitled to a capital amounting to ₱20,000 and will undergo basic business management training to help them venture in livestock, sari-sari stores, goat dispersal, native chicken, and mini meat processing, Munsayac said.
The OVP, however, is yet to announce further details of the launch.
Meanwhile, Munsayac said they will add more OVP satellite offices to the current six already established across the country.
“The OVP intends to open additional satellite offices to expand the reach of its social services program to more marginalized communities,” he said.
The six satellite offices are currently offering medical and burial assistance to the public.
“Ine-evaluate natin lahat ng pwedeng basic social services at assistance na pwedeng ibigay sa tao na may kasamang training, para di naman masayang ‘yung pera. I-e-explore po lahat ‘yan. At dahil nga may mga satellite offices tayo, mas maganda ‘yung rollout nito, mas maraming makikinabang,” he noted.

The satellite offices will also be the OVP’s “channel” in providing aid in times of calamities, Munsayac added.
