Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 26) — From pageant heels to rubber shoes, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach reveals that she is preparing to join her first marathon in November.
In an Instagram post, Wurtzbach said that she’s been training since February for the New York City Marathon.
“I was never a runner before, and I couldn’t even stand doing any sort of cardio then. But I’ve always looked at runners with a lot of respect,” the former beauty queen said.
Wurtzbach said that she decided to try running after she was infected with COVID-19 early this year.
“Something clicked over New Year (when I had Covid) and I was just sick and tired of being sick and tired. I felt like, ‘Okay Pia if you don’t do it now, you’ll never do it,’” she said.
“But seriously, I’ve been having so much fun with it and it has improved my life. I feel better. I sleep better. I manage stress better,” Wurtzbach added.
According to the event’s website, the New York City Marathon is considered the largest marathon in the world.
