Bongbong Marcos now free from COVID-19 symptoms

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 13) — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. is no longer showing COVID-19 symptoms and may be freed from isolation in a couple of days, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles announced Wednesday.

Cruz-Angeles said the President has been free from all symptoms of the illness since Tuesday — or on his fifth and sixth days in isolation — as assessed by his physician, Dr. Samuel Zacate.

“The President’s vital signs are all within normal limit. He has no signs of respiratory distress and [is] very comfortable,” the press secretary reported, citing Zacate’s latest medical examination.

The doctor said Marcos may already resume his face-to-face engagements on July 15, Friday, which is when he completes his seven-day isolation.

This is provided that “there is no reappearance of any sign and symptoms related to COVID-19,” including a fever in the next 24 hours.

On July 8, Cruz-Angeles announced that Marcos tested positive for COVID-19 through an antigen test. He was advised to undergo home isolation for a week in compliance with the Department of Health protocol for fully vaccinated individuals.

On Tuesday, the President presided over his second Cabinet meeting via teleconferencing.
