
MMFF unveils first four entries for 2022
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 8) — The Metro Manila Film Festival on Friday announced the first four official movie entries for its lineup this year.
In a statement, the organizers said the movies were chosen by a committee based on script submissions. Here are the initial movie titles of the festival’s 48th edition:
1. Labyu With An Accent (ABS-CBN Film Productions)
Director: Rodel Nacianceno
Starring: Coco Martin and Jodi Sta. Maria
2. Nanahimik Ang Gabi (Rein Entertainment Productions)
Director: Shugo Praico
Starring: Ian Veneracion, Mon Confiado and Heaven Peralejo
3. Partners in Crime (ABS-CBN Film Productions)
Director: Cathy Garcia-Molina
Starring: Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi
4. The Teacher (TEN17P)
Director: Paul Soriano
Starring: Joey De Leon and Toni Gonzaga
The Selection Committee, headed by actress Boots Anson Roa Rodrigo and film producer Jesse Ejercito, chose the scripts based on the following criteria: artistic excellence (40%), commercial appeal (40%), Filipino cultural sensibility (10%), and global appeal (10%).
The last four films to complete the festival’s “magic eight” will be selected from finished film submissions.
The MMFF will return this December.
