Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 8) — Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista has appointed officers-in-charge for the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), two attached agencies to the Department of Transportation.
Sonia Malaluan has been named as the OIC administrator of MARINA where she has been serving for 32 years.
The agency said she held several top positions and played a major role in its organization. She is also a staunch advocate of women empowerment and equality, it added.
Meanwhile, Port Manager Manuel Boholano will serve as the OIC general manager of the PPA.
He has been with the agency since 1988, the PPA said. In 2005, he became a port manager and his most recent assignment was at the Port Management Office of Eastern Leyte/Samar.
Both appointees will lead their respective agencies until the end of the month or until a replacement has been appointed or designated, whichever comes first.
This is pursuant to President Bongbong Marcos’ Memorandum Circular 1 declaring certain positions in the executive department as vacant.
