
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 6) — Vice President Sara Duterte and top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi met Wednesday afternoon as part of the latter’s official visit in the country.
According to the country’s second highest official, they specifically discussed how to strengthen the relationship between China and Philippines.
“Nakipagkita tayo ngayong hapon kay H.E. Wang Yi, State Councilor at Foreign Minister ng People’s Republic of China, upang pag-usapan ang pagpapalakas ng pagkakaibigan ng ating mga bansa,” Duterte said in a Facebook post.
[Translation: We met this afternoon with H.E. Wang Yi, state councilor and foreign minister of People’s Republic of China, to talk about strengthening the friendship of our countries.]
The two met following Wang’s bilateral meeting with Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo, and courtesy visit to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. earlier in the day.
