Tropical Depression Caloy exits PAR

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 30) — Tropical Depression Caloy has maintained its strength and is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, the state weather bureau said.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Caloy exited PAR at 11 p.m. Wednesday and was last located 575 kilometers West of Iba, Zambales.

It has maintained maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

“The monsoon trough and the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Tropical Depression Caloy will bring monsoon rains over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas,” PAGASA said.

Caloy is seen to move northwestward or west northwestward over the West Philippine Sea on Friday and Saturday before it moves closer to China where it will make its landfall. It may also reach tropical storm category in the next 24 hours.
