Quinley Quezada joins Serbian club

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 11) – Philippine women’s football team stalwart Quinley Quezada takes her talent to Europe after signing a contract with Serbian pro club Red Star Belgrade, the team announced on Friday.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Red Star Belgrade is one of the clubs in Serbia Women’s Super League, the top professional leagues for women’s football in that country. The club, though, has yet to win a title after finishing as runner-up four times.

The product of University of California, Riverside previously played in the Japan WE League as part of the JEF United Chiba club, where she saw action in nine games.

Quezada had been in the historic Filipinas squad that clinched the country’s first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup berth in the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup last January.

The 25-year-old striker was also instrumental in ending the country’s 37-year medal drought in the Southeast Asian Games women’s football tournament last month, where they defeated Myanmar for the bronze medal.
