UP leads four PH schools in latest world university rankings

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 9) – Four Philippine schools entered the 2023 World University Rankings of United Kingdom-based higher education information firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

The University of the Philippines led the pack as the state university ranked 412th in the world, although it fell from its 399th rank in 2022 and 396th spot in 2021.

Ateneo De Manila University is the second highest ranked Philippine school in the latest rankings, sitting at the 651-700 bracket. The Katipunan-based university’s ranking also went down from its spot in the 601-650 group last year.

De La Salle University and University of Santo Tomas completed the Philippine schools in the world rankings as both schools are in the 801-1,000 bracket.

The QS assessed around 1,500 educational institutions worldwide using the criteria of academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty and student ratio, citations per faculty, and international student and international faculty ratio.

United States-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology remains as the top university in the world, while the National University of Singapore is ranked highest in Asia and 11th globally.
