
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 8) — Senator Manny Pacquiao spent around ₱119 million for his presidential campaign, with half of the amount coming from his own funds, according to his Statement of Contribution and Expenditures (SOCE) released to the media on Wednesday.
Pacquiao’s SOCE, filed before the Commission on Elections, showed he received ₱56.45 million worth of contributions.
Some ₱7.75 million came in the form of cash, while ₱48.7 million were in-kind contributions.
Based on his camp’s declaration, he used ₱62.67 million from his personal funds for his election campaign.
The boxer-turned-lawmaker was the second-richest senator as of December 2020, with a net worth of over ₱3.1 billion, according to his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth. The wealthiest as of the same period was Senator Cynthia Villar, whose net worth was more than ₱3.8 billion.
All candidates and parties are required to file their respective SOCEs by June 8 for a review of possible overspending.
Presidential and vice presidential candidates are allowed to spend up to ₱674 million. This is based on a legal cap set at ₱10 per voter, with 67.44 million voters registered for the May 9 polls.
