Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 23) — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reported 1,214 new COVID-19 infections and six new deaths in the week of May 16 to 22.
There were 14 new severe and critical cases logged. The daily average of that week was 173, which was 9.9% higher than the cases in the previous week.
Of the six new reported deaths, three occurred this month, one each in April and February this year, and one in January 2021.
For the healthcare utilization rate, 17.4% of non-intensive care unit beds are occupied (4,125 beds out of 23,697), while 15.4% of ICU beds are being used (432 beds out of 2,812).
There are currently 718 severe and critical patients in the hospital or about 12.9% of total COVID-19 admissions.
Meanwhile, more than 69 million people have been fully vaccinated, including 377,468 who received doses in the recent week. The total number of boosted individuals is over 13.9 million, including 240,592 who received the additional shots on May 16 to 22.
The current coverage rate for the total target population is at 76.71% and for the target elderly population (A2 group), 77.22%
