Cavitex toll rate hike moved to May 22

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 18) — The implementation of higher toll rates for the R-1 expressway of Cavitex has been deferred to May 22 to allow more public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators to register in the toll reprieve program, the expressway’s operator Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) announced on Wednesday.

The implementation of the new toll rates was initially set on May 12.

The delay was decided to give “more time” for PUV drivers and operators to tap the toll reprieve program, giving them temporary relief as this allows them to continue enjoying the old rates for the next three months, CIC said in a statement.

To avail of the program, the expressway operator said PUV drivers and operators only need to enroll their accounts in coordination with their different transport organizations.

“Target enrollees to the program are all drivers and operators of the 1,420 public utility vehicles that ply through CAVITEX,” CIC said.
