Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 15) — The 12 winning senatorial candidates will be proclaimed on Wednesday, Commission on Elections Commissioner George Garcia said on Sunday.
For party-lists, Comelec is also eyeing the proclamation of those in the top tier, or those whose ranks will not be affected by the processing of more votes on Thursday. Comelec spokesperson Rex Laudiangco said there will be a separate proclamation for party-lists and senators to follow health protocols
He said votes from 13 countries are currently in transit. Meanwhile, Shanghai, which is on lockdown, and areas such as Tubaran town that have declared a failure of elections, have yet to hold a special poll.
Laudiangco assured that the votes from these areas will no longer affect the outcome since Shanghai only accounts for 1,911 votes while Tubaran town contributes 6,000 votes.
“So given the margins we see right now, there is a projection, again unofficial but it’s a projection, that we could proceed with the 12 without these remaining votes affecting the proceedings,” he said.
240 mismatches
Laudiangco also reported that the manual count of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting found 240 mismatches between the encoded election returns (ERs) and the transmitted data to the transparency server.
But again, these are insignificant to the results because it is only 1.61% of the total ERs encoded so far — the rest were a 100% match, the spokesperson added.
The reasons behind the mismatching include mistakes from tired volunteers or the illegibility of the numbers. The mismatches will still undergo review, Laudiangco clarified.
