
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 13) – Kurash athlete Jack Escarpe won the Philippines’ second gold medal in the 31st Southeast Asian Games at the Hoai Duc Gymnasium in Vietnam.
Escarpe beat Thailand’s Apicha Boonrangsee in the finals to clinch the men’s -73kg division title in the final day of the 31st SEA Games kurash competitions.
Escarpe defeated hometown bet Ngoc Son Vu in the preliminaries and Myanmar’s Soe Myint Tun in the semifinals en route to his golden finish.
Meanwhile, Bianca Estrella bagged the bronze medal in the women’s -70kg division after she fell against hometown bet Thi Thanh Tram Nguyen in the semifinals.
The Philippine kurash team will go home with one gold, three silver, and four bronze medals.
