Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 8) – Dynamic Herb Cebu made some adjustments in the second half to force a 1-1 draw against United City in Copa Paulino Alcantara 2022.
The draw, which granted one point each for the two opposing squads, enabled Dynamic Herb Cebu to tie with league leader and defending champions Kaya-Iloilo on top of the league table with 13 points. Both Cebu and Iloilo had four wins and one draw.
Substitute Steven Patalinghug converted the equalizer in the 70th minute off a corner kick to prevent the Cebu-based squad from suffering their first defeat in the tournament.
Dynamic Herb overturned its one-goal deficit as the returning United City side held the upperhand of the scoreline early in the game, with a Ricki Sendra strike in the seventh minute, coming from a cross by Curt Dizon just beside the goal box.
It was United City’s first game after competing in the 2022 AFC Champions League last month.
Both squads failed to produce solid set plays in the last 20 minutes of the contest that could have given them the victory.
United City remains in third place at the league table with two wins and three draws for a total of nine points.
