Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 30) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has announced that the hospital built specifically for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their dependents is set to start its operations as a polyclinic on May 2, with full operations expected by the end of June.
In a statement, DOLE said the hospital is a first of its kind, as it mainly provides medical care and health services to the country’s modern day heroes and their dependents.
The hospital is built on a 1.5 hectare land parcel donated by the provincial government of Pampanga, the DOLE noted.
It added that the Philippine General Hospital will provide assistance in training clinical and administrative personnel, planning and acquisition of hospital equipment, and formulation of clinical and fiscal process flow through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in January 2022.
To give further assistance to its clientele, a Malasakit Center and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration desk will also be set up within the premises of the OFW Hospital.
President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to lead the inauguration of the hospital on Sunday, May 1.
