DOLE to hold job fair on Labor Day

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 29) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will conduct a job fair on May 1, Labor Day with 134,287 local and overseas jobs available for applicants.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said some 900 employers will be participating in the fair to be held in 26 sites nationwide.

“This job fair is one of the employment recovery strategies to restart economic activities, restore consumer and business confidence, upgrade and retool the workforce, and facilitate labor market access,” Bello said in a statement on Friday.

The main job fair site is set at the Kingsborough International Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga, the DOLE noted.

The agency added that job vacancies include those in the manufacturing, business process outsourcing, and retail/sales industries.

Overseas vacancies, meanwhile, include jobs for the nurse/nurse aid, carpenter, foreman, welder; food server; household service worker; and auditor.

The job fair is among DOLE’s initiatives for Labor Day.
