Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 28) – Another pair of basketball archrivals has forged unity off the court.
The student councils of San Beda University and Colegio De San Juan De Letran, fierce rivals in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), have urged fans attending their much-anticipated clash on Friday to wear pink.
The color pink is associated with presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Even the greatest rivals in Philippine sports are to make a truce for a cause greater than our disparity,” the San Beda Student Council said.
The San Beda-Letran tussle, one of the most celebrated rivalries in Philippine collegiate basketball, will happen on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
Letran will shoot for a sweep of the eliminations round and the top semifinals seed, while San Beda is in a more precarious situation.
A San Beda win will elevate them to the top seed, while a loss will place them as the third seed and give them a spot in the play-in tournament.
Earlier this month, fans of UAAP rivals Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University wore pink when the two celebrated schools battled for the second time in Season 84 on April 11.

Other UAAP schools also encouraged their fans watching the games at the Mall of Asia Arena to wear pink.
