Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 26)— Tricia Robredo, daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo, has requested the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to probe the spread of fake lewd videos that have been using her name.
Tricia and her counsel sent the letter of request to the NBI last week, Robredo’s camp said in a statement on Tuesday.
They also sought assistance in determining possible cybercrimes in the case, adding that the camp is ready to file appropriate charges.
“If these perpetrators are not unmasked and prosecuted before the courts, other persons might be subjected to the same vicious and criminal acts,” Tricia said.
Tricia’s lawyer argued that the mere use of her name in the said online posts is tantamount to gender-based online sexual harassment under Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act.
Her sister, Aika, earlier asked for NBI’s help to investigate similar incidents.
