Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 22) – Will Gozum and Robi Nayve delivered to lead the College of St. Benilde Blazers in a 71-62 win over San Sebastian College Golden Stags in NCAA Season 97 Friday at the La Salle Greenhills Gym.
Gozum had another double-double performance of 18 points with 12 rebounds, while Nayve tallied 17 markers to improve their team’s slate to 5-3 and occupy the fourth spot in the team standings.
The two teams exchanged baskets for three quarters, before the Blazers scored some fastbreak and second chance points in the fourth quarter to break away.
CSB edged San Sebastian in fastbreak points, 12-0, and also had a slight lead in second chance points, 16-11.
The Stags failed to stage a late-game rally as JM Calma’s 25 points and 10 rebounds went to waste.
San Sebastian still holds the sixth place – the last spot for the play-in tournament – with a 3-5 record.
On Tuesday, the Charles Tiu-mentored Blazers will face unbeaten San Beda Red Lions, while the Stags seek to bounce back in their battle versus defending champion Letran Knights at 3 p.m.
