Crucial PBA Finals Game 6 postponed due to fire at Araneta Coliseum

Ginebra has a chance to win their back-to-back Governors’ Cup titles in Game 6, needing only a win to secure the championship as they lead 3-2 against Meralco in their best-of-seven finals affair.

“With the safety of all in mind, the PBA has decided to postponed the 47th Season Governors Cup Finals Game 6 tonight,” the league said in a statement.

According to volunteer group TXTFIREPH, the fire was put under control as of 12:41 p.m and was declared out at 1:10 p.m.

The league management said all Game 6 ticket holders can refund their tickets at the Smart Araneta Coliseum’s ticketing office.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 20) — A fire at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday forced the postponement of the crucial Game 6 of the 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals between Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Meralco Bolts.

The pivotal Game 6 between the fierce court rivals has been moved to Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Earlier, the league suspended the grand finals of the PBA 3×3 tournament, which was being played when the fire broke out at the second floor of the Big Dome.
