Fuel firms announce price hike after last week’s rollback

Prices of basic goods likely rose by 2.4-3.2 percent in February, with cheaper electricity, fuel, and food costs softening price movements, a unit of The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas says.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 18) — Oil companies will increase fuel rates this week, according to separate advisories released Monday.

Effective 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Caltex, Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, Petron, Phoenix, PTT Philippines, Seaoil, and Total will raise per-liter prices of gasoline by ₱0.45 and diesel by ₱1.70.

Caltex, Petron, and Seaoil will also impose an upward rate adjustment for kerosene at ₱0.45 per liter.

The upcoming fuel price hike follows the rollback last week, which was the third time that rates had been reduced this year.

According to the latest oil monitor of the Department of Energy (DOE), the per-liter net increases of gasoline and diesel rates have stood at ₱15 and ₱25.65, respectively, since the start of 2022. For kerosene, it’s ₱21.10.
