
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 14) — The national women’s volleyball team has left for Brazil to train in preparation for the Hanoi Southeast Asian Games scheduled next month.
The training, which will last until April 27, is being held in the municipality of Barueri in the State of São Paulo, according to Ricky Palou, member of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Executive Board and deputy secretary-general for international affairs.
The team will have tune-up matches against local club teams.
The team is composed of open spikers Alyssa Valdez, Jema Galanza and Ces Molina; opposite spikers Kat Tolentino and Mylene Paat; setters Kyle Negrito, Deanna Wong and Iris Tolenada; middle blockers Jaja Santiago, Ria Meneses, Majoy Baron, Dell Palomata and Aby Maraño; and liberos Dawn Macandili and Kath Arado.
Except for Santiago, they are coming off the recently concluded Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
The games were originally from Nov. 21 to Dec. 2, 2021 but was moved to May 12 to 23, 2022 due to the COVID-19 situation in the region.
