
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 29) — Tyler Tio grabbed the spotlight and carried the Ateneo Blue Eagles to their second straight win in UAAP Season 84.
Tio dropped all of his 17 points in the third quarter as the Blue Eagles defeated the FEU Tamaraws, 79-70, Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Ateneo was looking to pull away for good, leading by as much as 21 points in the second half.
But the Tamaraws refused to wave the white flag and trimmed the deficit to six points in the waning minutes of the final frame.
Dave Ildefonso also chipped in 17 points and four rebounds for the Blue Eagles while Angelo Kouame and BJ Andrade added nine points apiece for the reigning champions.
RJ Abarrientos had another productive outing for FEU with 16 markers, five boards, and three dimes.
Ateneo will next battle the Adamson University Soaring Falcons on March 31 while the Tamaraws tackle the De La Salle University Green Archers on the same day.
