Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 27) – Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Eumir Marcial will fight for the first time in Las Vegas, Nevada in his young professional career.
MP Promotions announced Marcial is lined up for a six-round bout against Isaiah Hart in one of the undercards in the Erickson Lubin-Sebastian Fundora fight for the WBC super welterweight interim championship on April 9 at The Theatre at Virgin Hotels.
“I am so excited to return to my professional career, and to be fighting in Viva Las Vegas, where I now live and train, is a great way to get things going again,” said Marcial.
Marcial, who holds a clean slate after winning his first professional bout against Andrew Whitfield in December 2020, is training under the tutelage of Jorge Capetillo and strength and conditioning coach Memo Heredia.
“I am really excited to have Eumir back in the professional ranks after a tremendous showing in Tokyo at the Olympics and winning the bronze medal for the Philippines,” said MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons.
Hart, a native of New Jersey, touts a 6-2-1 (four via knockout) win-loss-draw record.
In his second pro bout, Marcial rides the momentum of his bronze medal finish in the Tokyo Olympics men’s middleweight division. He was the country’s lone bronze medalist in boxing in Tokyo, after Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam both won silver.
