Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 26) – Filipino mixed martial arts legend Eduard Folayang proved he still has a lot of gas left in his storied career.
Folayang notched a unanimous decision win over the retiring John Wayne Parr in his Muay Thai rules fight debut in ONE: X on Saturday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
From the first round, the Team Lakay veteran displayed his punching and kicking prowess that rocked his Australian foe’s tactical moves.
Folayang relied on his vintage punching form in the second round to continue dominating Parr in the contest, highlighted by the Filipino fighter’s spinning kick that staggered the Australian Muay Thai legend at the end of the frame.
The third and final round served as a formality for the 38-year-old Folayang’s convincing victory as he launched more strikes that damaged the game plan of the 45-year-old Parr.
It was a sweet victory for Folayang, who finally ended his career worst four-bout losing streak.
The MMA pride of Benguet now holds a 23-12 record while the Australian great Parr bowed out of his illustrious 25-year career with a 99-35-1 slate.
Folayang also positively closed the Philippines’ campaign in the 10th anniversary event of ONE Championship, where fellow Team Lakay bet Stephen Loman and Marrok Force standout Jeremy Miado picked up wins.
Lito Adiwang lost to Miado in their all-Filipino strawweight showdown while female atomweight contender Denice Zamboanga suffered her second straight loss against South Korean rival Ham Seo Hee.
