Adiwang, Miado ready to slug it out in ONE: X

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 19) – Team Lakay bet Lito Adiwang and Marrok Force standout Jeremy Miado both expressed readiness for their all-Filipino strawweight showdown in ONE: X on March 26.

In a recent interview with CNN Philippines’ Sports Desk, Adiwang said he studied well the strengths and weaknesses of Miado in order to get the victory in the 10th anniversary offering of ONE Championship.

“I need to level up my game para maipakita ko sa kanya yung level na iba rin yung level ko ditohindi lang pang (so I can show him I play at a very different level – not just as a) contender but a championship level,” said Adiwang, who holds a 13-4 record.

Miado, for his part, said he is happy to face one of his mixed martial arts idols in Adiwang, but it will not be a factor once they cross paths in the circle a week from now.

“100% ready po tayo dito sa laban na ito, so opo tama po yung sinabi niyo na kung sana mas okay po kung ibang lahi sana yung kalaban pero siyempre po bilang martial artist po expected na po natin na minsan kailangang magtapat yung Filipino vs. Filipino,” said Miado, who touts a 10-4 slate.

[Translation: I am 100% ready for this fight. Yes you are right in what you said that it will be better to have a foreign opponent, but as a martial artist, it is expected that sometimes a Filipino vs. Filipino match will happen.]

“We are both strikers, and we both know our games. While he moves fast when he fights, I have a longer reach, which I will use to my advantage,” Miado added.

Miado and Adiwang are two of the five Filipino fighters who will represent the country in ONE Championship’s 10th anniversary event to be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Adiwang’s veteran Team Lakay teammate Eduard Folayang leads the cast, as the pride of Benguet will make his Muay Thai rules fight debut against John Wayne Parr.

Miado’s fellow Marrok Force fighter and Filipina atomweight standout Denice Zamboanga looks to avenge her loss against South Korean rival Ham Seo Hee in their highly anticipated rematch.

Stephen Loman, another Team Lakay fighter, completes the country’s representation in ONE: X. He will face Shoko Sato in the stacked fight event.
