Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 17) – The Creamline Cool Smashers opened their 2022 PVL Open Conference with a rousing three-set win against PLDT High Speed Hitters, 25-16, 25-18, 25-22, on Thursday at the Paco Arena.
Tots Carlos led the Creamline scoring 16 points and 13 attacks, while star spiker Alyssa Valdez added 11 markers for the Sherwin Meneses-mentored squad.
The Cool Smashers displayed their dominating game all throughout with their excellent serves, digs, sets, and points from all ends of the floor.
PLDT attempted a comeback late in the third set with the successful hits of Dell Palomata and Mika Reyes and unnecessary errors from Creamline, to trim their deficit to 21-22.
Creamline ace setter Jia Morado, who notched 22 excellent sets in the match, helped Carlos to deliver the finishing blow for the Cool Smashers.
An outside shot by Power Hitters player Chin Basas gave the victory for Creamline.
