Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 17) — Despite failing to bring home the elusive blue crown for the country, Miss World Philippines Tracy Maureen Perez still got praises from no less than 2013 winner Megan Young.
In a tweet on Thursday, the day of the coronation, Young praised Perez for representing the country during the 70th edition of the beauty pageant.
“Love you so much @tracymaureenp, we are so proud of you,” Young tweeted.
Young was the first and only Filipina to take home the Miss World crown back in September 2013.
Prior to the pageant, Miss World Philippines 2018 Katarina Rodriguez also showed support for Perez, whom she considers a close friend.
“No matter what happens, we’re already proud of her,” she told CNN Philippines.
Poland’s Karolina Bielawska was crowned Miss World 2021 in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Thursday, besting over 90 other candidates.
Perez landed in the top 13, despite being a frontrunner in the challenges leading up to the coronation.
