Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 16) – Team Lakay upstart Stephen Loman is the fifth Filipino fighter who will see action in ONE: X, which is ONE Championship’s 10th anniversary offering on March 26 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The Singapore-based sports outfit announced on Wednesday that Loman, known in the mixed martial arts scene as “The Spider,” will clash with Japanese fighter Shoko Sato in the stacked fight event.
The 30-year-old Loman holds a 14-2 win-loss record in his career, following his first round technical knockout victory over Russian contender Yusup “Maestro” Saadulaev in his ONE Championship debut during ONE: Winter Warriors II in December.
The rousing win paid dividends for Loman as he was promoted as the third best bantamweight fighter in the ONE Championship rankings, behind former ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes and “Pretty Boy” Kwon Won Il.
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Sato sports a 32-14-2 slate in his decorated MMA career and has a 3-1 record and a 100% finish rate in his ONE Championship stint.
Sato defeated the likes of Won Il via submission and Mark Abelardo and Rafael Silva by knockout, before he suffered a unanimous decision loss against ONE no. 4 ranked bantamweight fighter Fabricio Andrade in January.
Loman’s veteran Team Lakay teammate Eduard Folayang leads the cast of Filipino fighters in ONE: X as the pride of Benguet will make his Muay Thai rules fight debut against John Wayne Parr.
An all-Filipino showdown will also spice up ONE:X with Lito Adiwang battling Marrok Force stalwart Jeremy Miado in a strawweight bout.
Filipina atomweight standout Denice Zamboanga completes the country’s representation in ONE: X as she looks to avenge her loss against South Korean rival Ham Seo Hee in their highly anticipated rematch.
