Tracy Maureen Perez returns to Puerto Rico for Miss World pageant

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 12)— Philippine bet Tracy Maureen Perez has officially kicked off her campaign to bring home the coveted Miss World crown.

The Cebuana beauty left for Puerto Rico Friday evening ahead of the coronation night set for March 16 (March 17, Manila time).

“For the second time around, I’m leaving for Puerto Rico, carrying with me our country’s hopes and dreams,” Perez wrote on social media.

“Please continue to pray with me, I know that all our hard work will soon pay off and our hearts will shine through!”

The Miss World pageant was supposed to take place in December, but organizers postponed the event due to coronavirus-related issues.

Perez has been making a mark even during the earlier part of the competition — securing a spot in the Top 30 after winning the “Head to Head” challenge. She also cracked the top five of the “Beauty with a Purpose” challenge.

If she wins, Perez will secure the second Miss World crown for the Philippines after Megan Young’s feat in 2013.

CNN Philippines will air the Miss World coronation on March 17.
