Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 4) — Educators from Ateneo De Manila University and the different schools of De La Salle have expressed support for presidential bet Vice President Leni Robredo and her running mate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.

Over a hundred Ateneo De Manila University professors individually signed a statement released on Friday, endorsing the tandem. Earlier, the Jesuit institution’s Theology Department also issued a similar statement of support.

“We believe that Leni and Kiko best reflect our mission and vocation to create and force a society that cares for humanity,” the professors’ statement read. “This is the cause that we seek to advocate for the betterment of our youth, for the prosperity of our nation and for the Greater Glory of God.”

Similarly, the Facebook group Lasallians for Leni released a statement of support with 1,002 names of educators from the different De La Salle schools across the country.

The statement stressed the need to choose leaders who “propose a vision that can unite the people in pursuit of the common good, possess the moral integrity needed to command trust from citizens and civil society, and have a proven track record of empowering the disempowered and undeserved sectors of Philippine society.”

“[W]e firmly believe that Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan are the most qualified for the said positions respectively,” it added.
