Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 16) — The second division of the Commission on Elections has dismissed the petition to cancel the certificate of candidacy of senatorial bet Raffy Tulfo, acting Comelec chairman Socorro Inting said on Wednesday.
The Comelec second division said there was no misrepresentation in Tulfo’s COC when he named Jocelyn Tulfo as his wife.
Julieta Pearson, who filed the petition, claimed to be the legal wife of the broadcaster.
Inting said the second division junked the case because whoever the spouse of a candidate is not material to whether they can run for office.
Tulfo topped a pre-election survey for senatorial aspirants conducted by Pulse Asia in January, with 66.1 percent of respondents saying they will vote for him.
