Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 8)— Several artists and celebrities openly expressed their support for election candidates as they graced their proclamation rallies on Tuesday.
Actress Toni Gonzaga was named the official host of the campaign launch of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. Fellow network star Karla Estrada — who earlier filed her certificate of candidacy as nominee of Tingog party-list — also had a guest appearance at the event.
Vice President Leni Robredo likewise had a star-studded rally.
The likes of Cherry Pie Picache, Rita Avila, Iza Calzado, Jolina Magdangal, and Gary Valenciano delivered their messages as Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan courted voters in Naga City.
Filipino band Rivermaya also performed its hit song “Liwanag Sa Dilim” to close out the tandem’s rally.
Actor-comedian Vic Sotto joined his brother, vice presidential candidate Sen. Tito Sotto, during his proclamation rally with Sen. Ping Lacson in Cavite.
Singer Freddie Aguilar, meanwhile, performed at Sen. Manny Pacquiao’s campaign event, saying he respects the presidential bet’s “sincerity” as a politician.
