Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 8) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday said he is not supporting any presidential candidate “at this time.”

In his weekly address, Duterte said “almost all of the candidates in one way or the other” communicated with him to ask for his support for the coming elections.

“At this time, I am saying that I’m not supporting anybody,” he said.

“Unless there is a compelling reason really for me to change my mind and decide to support a candidate,” he added.

Duterte also said all presidential hopefuls are qualified for the position “except for a few misgivings about the danger of falling… into a trap with the communists.”

He earlier supported Senator Christopher “Bong” Go until the latter withdrew from the presidential race.

In a briefing on Jan. 25, Duterte said he would reveal the frailties of most presidential aspirants once the elections draw closer. He also said he would reveal a male presidential bet who is too corrupt and another one who is clueless about leading the country.

The official campaign period for national posts kicks off on Tuesday with presidential bets set to hold proclamation rallies across the country.
