Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 4) – Former Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gringo Honasan is the latest addition to the senatorial ticket of presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
“We are pleased that he is now part of our senatorial slate. We believe that Sen. Gringo will accomplish a lot in the Senate, coming up with laws that will help ensure better lives for our countrymen,” Marcos said in a statement released on Friday.
Honasan is seeking a Senate comeback after serving multiple terms from 1995 to 2004 and 2007 to 2019.
After his Senate term expired in 2019, President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Honasan as secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
Honasan’s Reform Party also officially endorsed the Marcos-Duterte tandem for the May polls, in a resolution issued last Jan. 21.
Honasan joins incumbent senators Sherwin Gatchalian and Juan Miguel Zubiri, Antique Rep. Loren Legarda, former Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada, former Defense chief Gilbert Teodoro, former Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, suspended lawyer Larry Gadon, and party-list congressman Rodante Marcoleta in the Marcos-Duterte senatorial ticket.
