
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 26) — The Department of Health (DOH) reported 15,789 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the lowest in 20 days, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,475,293.
Of this total, 6.6% or 230,410 are active cases or those who currently have the disease — 218,711 have mild symptoms; 6,902 have no symptoms; 2,982 are in moderate condition; 1,507 have severe symptoms and 308 are in critical condition.
The death toll climbed to 53,664 — 1.54% of all infections — after 66 more people lost their lives.
Meanwhile, 32,712 others got well, raising the recovery count to 3,191,219 — 91.8% of the COVID-19 tally.
The DOH said it reclassified ten initially tagged survivors as among the dead after validation, and deleted 142 duplicate cases, including 80 recoveries.
Three laboratories did not submit data and were excluded from the count. These laboratories contributed an average of 0.1% of tested samples and 0.1% of positive individuals in the last 14 days.
