The tectonic earthquake was recorded at 6:07 a.m. It hit 19 kilometers of Calatagan with a depth 113 km, state seismologists said.
The agency also said that this is an aftershock of the magnitude 6.6 earthquake that jolted the municipality last July 24, 2021.
Instrumental intensities were also recorded in these areas:
Intensity III – Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Calatagan, Batangas
Intensity I – Tagaytay City; Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro
There are no aftershocks or damage expected, the Phivolcs said.
