Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 18) — The newly-renovated Manila Zoo will open its doors for COVID-19 vaccination of minors and senior citizens beginning Wednesday, Jan. 19, the city government announced.
On a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Manila Public Information Office said the facility will cater to senior citizens and minors aged 12 to 17 years old.
Parents and guardians of minors can also secure their COVID shots at the popular zoo, it added.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, however, said the facility will not accept walk-ins. Individuals wanting to get their shots should register at www.manilazoo.ph and www.manilacovid19vaccine.ph.
He also clarified that the facility can only accommodate up to 1,000 Filipinos per day.
The city mayor earlier said the five-hectare recreation facility can serve a “double purpose” as it is an ideal location for a vaccination drive given its open spaces.
