Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 12) — The Commission on Elections has removed the Malasakit Movement, led by former government official Celine Pialago, from the roster of party-list groups in the upcoming national elections.
The poll body on Tuesday rejected with finality the accreditation of the group hoping to represent barangay workers in Congress.
Pialago, the group’s first nominee, served as spokesperson of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict or NTF-ELCAC, which has been criticized for labeling government critics as communist rebel sympathizers without basis.
