Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 12) – Olympic weightlifting champion Hidilyn Diaz has tested positive for COVID-19.
“Kahit ako po, nagpositive na po. Ingat po tayong lahat. Magpalakas at sundin lahat ng health protocols,” the country’s first Olympic gold medalist posted on her Instagram story on Wednesday.
[Translation: I myself have tested positive. Let’s all stay safe. Keep healthy and follow all health protocols.]
Diaz contracted the disease despite getting a booster shot last Jan. 4.
The pride of Zamboanga is expected to defend her Southeast Asian Games title in May and Asian Games crown in September.
