Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 11)— The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has further trimmed its list of 2022 presidential aspirants, with only 10 in the running for the country’s highest post.

They are former Palace spokesperson Ernesto Abella, labor leader Leody de Guzman, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, former Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzales, Senators Ping Lacson and Manny Pacquiao, Faisal Mangondato, Jose Montemayor, former senator Bongbong Marcos, and Vice President Leni Robredo.

Independent bet Gerald Arcega has been dropped from the tentative list of poll hopefuls published by Comelec on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, nine aspirants remain in the vice presidential race while 64 are still in the running for a Senate seat.

The poll body earlier targeted to release the final list of candidates for the May polls last week. It has yet to give an update on the matter.
