Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 4) — Philippine National Police chief PGEN Dionardo Carlos has tested positive for COVID-19, he announced Tuesday.
“Last Sunday evening, I subjected my close-in security, staff, and myself to RT-PCR tests due to reports of fever and chills experienced by my White House personnel,” the nation’s top cop told reporters.
“Unfortunately, I too, tested positive including my duty driver and aide who were with me in the van Sunday morning,” he added.
Carlos further explained that he experienced fever, chills, and sweating on Sunday evening. By Monday, only his lower back pains remained.
The PNP on Tuesday reported 107 new COVID-19 cases, pushing their total infections to date to 42,370.
